App Review fix
What your privacy policy needs for Guideline 5.1.1.
Guideline 5.1.1 requires a privacy policy link in App Store Connect and inside your app. The policy itself has to cover specific points, and vague or copied policies are a common reason for rejection.
Publish your privacy policy →What Apple requires
The App Review Guidelines say your privacy policy must clearly and explicitly:
- Identify what data, if any, the app collects, how it collects that data, and all uses of that data.
- Confirm that any third party you share user data with, such as analytics tools, advertising networks, and third-party SDKs, provides the same or equal protection of that data.
- Explain your data retention and deletion policies, and describe how people can revoke consent or request deletion of their data.
The policy must also be easy to reach from inside your app, for example from a settings or about screen.
A checklist before you resubmit
- Every SDK in your app is covered, including analytics, crash reporting, ads, sign-in, and payments.
- The policy matches your App Privacy answers in App Store Connect.
- It says how long you keep data and how someone asks you to delete it.
- It names a way to contact you about privacy.
- It opens without signing in and isn’t a PDF or a shared document.
How AppLinks helps
- Start from an outline
- Begin with sections for each requirement and fill in the parts that describe your app.
- See what’s covered
- A checklist under the policy box shows which of Apple’s required topics your text mentions.
- Keep your formatting
- Paste from a policy generator, Google Docs, or Word, and headings, lists, and links stay intact.
- Dated automatically
- A “Last updated” date appears at the top and changes when your policy does.
AppLinks doesn’t write your policy for you. You review it and confirm it describes your app before publishing.
